A documented monthly price-index snapshot
The data are CPI-U, all items, U.S. city average, not seasonally adjusted, with 1982–84 equal to 100. The packaged snapshot covers January 2016 through December 2024 and was checked against the Bureau of Labor Statistics table on September 11, 2026. Both selected observations are monthly values; annual averages are not mixed into the calculation.
Compare two observations
Equivalent target dollars equal the source amount multiplied by the target index and divided by the source index. January 2016 has an index of 236.916 and December 2024 has 315.605. An amount converted between these months can be converted back using the inverse ratio. Selecting the same month returns the original amount.
What the comparison cannot tell you
CPI measures a defined consumer price basket. Your spending pattern may differ, and this result is not an exchange rate, a banknote appraisal or an investment return. The snapshot deliberately ends in 2024; later dates are unavailable rather than estimated. All displayed amounts on this page are US dollars.

Questions about this calculation
How can I check the inputs behind the result?
Open “Show calculation & assumptions” for the formula and timing conventions, then inspect the breakdown. Export CSV to keep the last calculated inputs and numerical results together.
Does this include taxes or changing market returns?
No tax calculation or variable market-return path is included. The task-specific assumptions above describe the scope. Calculated values are conditional on the inputs, not personalized recommendations.
